## 1. Prepare your account

Open the Palladin panel for your environment. If you do not have an account, register and complete account setup. Sign in and check that you can open **Agents** and add an agent in your organization.

## 2. Install the CLI

Install the CLI where your agent runs — on your computer or its server.

In a terminal with Node.js 20.5.0 or newer and npm 9.7.1 or newer installed, run:

```sh
npm install --global @palladin/cli
```

In a terminal in that same environment, run:

```sh
palladin --version
palladin doctor
```

We recommend **Hardened** protection. Check the mode reported by `doctor` and [availability on your platform](/docs/developers/installation#hardened-and-convenience).

If the terminal cannot find `palladin` or `doctor` reports an error, resolve it before pairing. See [installation troubleshooting](/docs/developers/troubleshooting).

## 3. Pair the agent with your panel

1. In the panel, open **Agents** and select the **+** button ("Add Agent") above the list.
2. Copy the generated message and give it to your agent. It contains your environment configuration and a link to the connection instructions.
3. The agent starts pairing. Open the indicated page and approve the connection in your panel.
4. Check that the agent appears in the panel. In the terminal, confirm its status using the selected profile name:

```sh
palladin --id <profile> status
```

Do not give the agent your account password or recovery key. Pairing registers the agent; you approve access to data separately.

See the [installation guide](/docs/developers/installation) for configuration details.

## What next?

[Test access using a non-secret test entry](/docs/developers/connect#4-test-without-a-secret). If your application uses MCP, [add the Palladin server](/docs/developers/mcp).
