# Plugins

## Do I need a plugin?

No. The [CLI](/docs/developers/installation) is enough to connect an agent. A plugin can add instructions and configuration for a particular application, but does not replace the CLI or approval for data access.

## Configure an integration

After installing the CLI, [pair your agent through the panel](/docs/developers/connect). For applications that require MCP, follow the [MCP instructions](/docs/developers/mcp).

If you use a plugin, install it from the source identified by its publisher and check its required CLI versions. Do not put API keys or secrets in plugin configuration. Afterwards, run the [connection test](/docs/developers/connect#4-test-without-a-secret).
